The painting

In my
words.

Cerritos is one of my favourite places to paint in Baja. Surfers in the water, pelicans overhead, and rocks that change colour every hour. This one is about the warm light sitting on those rocks while the water around them stays cool and blue. I painted it on the spot in one sitting and didn’t touch it again in the studio, so what you see is exactly what I put down that day. I’m really into rocks. They hold light in a way nothing else on the beach does.
