The painting

In my
words.

Pismo Beach, 29 January 2019. The day was a little overcast, and that suited me: the light stays consistent, so I wasn’t chasing shadows all afternoon. Paints out, brush ready, and, most importantly, a chai latte. I look for an interesting composition first, shapes and values, and colour second, and I keep it to four shapes at most. Painted on location below the inn at the cove and finished as the sun went down. There’s video of this day too, in the episodes.
