View from the Tower

View from the Tower. Almost got blown off. Had to finish this one quicker than I wanted. Might have to tighten it up a little in warmer weather. . In other news, I learned that Charlie is afraid of heights. Contrary to her spirit animal, the squirrel. Original oil...

Dock at sunset

Dock at sunset. I heard a great podcast today. We paint everyday to learn what not to paint. Today is a great example. Every time I put man-made objects in a painting, I want to burn it. Today is no exception. Still a better day than in the office Read More

Redding Clouds. Pretty rainy in San Fransisco so it’s a good day to hit YMCA for some body cleaning, and while we’re at it hit the laundromat. I’ve taken quite a few pics so here’s a painting from a cloud sunset from Redding, Ca. last week.
Chimney Rock at Point Reyes
Service road at Stafford Lake Park.
Trees up on North Sonoma Mountain.
Road at Helen Putnam Park. It’s going take a few to get back in the swing of things. Finally far south enough to get out of the snow zone. Yesterday was pretty rainy but today we were fortunate to have some sun. It’s nice to be pushing paint around again.
Evening at Helen Putnam Park Lovely to be back in California. Getting back into the paints and the routine of painting every day/ other day.
Webster Trail, Mt. Baldy We haven’t been around snow that much in the winter the past three years. Nice to romp around in the snow on skis and snowshoes. So beautiful here. pleinair Painting williamsburgpaints outdoorpainting outdoorpainter rosemarybrushes rosemaryandco paletteknifepainting sunnyday afternoonlight oilpainting painting oilsketch impressionism pleinairpainting canadianpleinair canadianart contemporaryrealism artlover shadows MHOilPaints
Happy New Year to all! 2019 was great and 2020 is going to even be better. Thanks to all for your support over this past year. I’ve taken a small hiatus for the last few months here in BC. I’ve actually been working on condo renovation at our local ski hill that has consumed way more time than I though would. But, as an artist, one has to often wear several hats to continue creating art and being sustainable. I don’t know many artists that are able to make a living by having art sales be their sole source of income. These last few months have been an amazing creative challenge. I was able to work with wood as the condo featured lots of cedar, so although I wasn’t painting, was still able to be creative. My partner Jayna and I are hitting the road January 10th and are heading south to California and Mexico for a couple of months. I’m going to try to again paint a painting every day or other day. Thanks for following along my journey, and all the best to you in 2020!
